You Never Know 'Till You Have a Go!
Posted by: Jerry With the weather as blasting as this, 2010 has definitely been one of our best summers in years so we thought we'd let you in on some of the fun activities we will be getting up to over the sunny months ahead. And what better way to start than with our seaside trip to Southend-on-Sea's free admission theme park Adventure Islands. This was our chosen destination for our SS10 look book and alongside shooting the collection with Dan Wilton, we also got a chance to check out the island for ourselves. While Adventure Island may not have the huge rides of some of England's more famous attractions, it is certainly the most visually exciting park I have visited in recent years. You can either buy an all access ticket or you can pay as you go depending on what rides take your fancy. So if you are looking to experience a truly authentic seaside theme park this summer then come and love the fun at Adventure Island. Elliot showing off his true super hero potential in the Teardrop T-shirt and Dash Cap. Come and have a swinging spin on the shell of a turtle better known as the Archelon. Definitely a motto worth remembering. Erika wearing the Skull Dress before tackling the Hook-a-Duck game. The key attraction of the park is the Rage roller coaster with this rather daunting drop; it might look all fun and colourful but this rip-roarer certainly brings out the screams. Our favourite ride of the park were the Flying Jumbos with their pink smiley faces ready to take you up and down and all around. No theme park trip would be complete with out treating yourself to a bucket of this sugary magic and this is indeed what we did. Not recommended before going on any spinny rides. Probably the highlight of the entire park is the beyond amazing shop with its ceiling interestingly lined with every type of soft toy imaginable. As you can see, Elliot couldn't believe his eyes when he entered wearing the Oaf Polo shirt. I was particularly keen on the giant, bean filled fruit toys and feel like a right lemon for not getting myself one. There are visual treats in every corner of Adventure Island and, as you can imagine, we went a bit wild for this donut man. Alongside the rides, the park is also packed with arcades including every type of game you could dream of. Here is Heather trying her luck in the Mini Skirt. Everyone's a Winna baby. As with any arcade, there are many prizes to be one but I would have been happy enough just getting my hands on one of these lucky stars. Here is Heather wearing Furreal next to the biggest star of the park, Elvis. And of course there are plenty of mini rides suitable for all ages including this rodeo horse ridden by Heather in the Martini T-shirt. So if you are looking for something fun and fresh to fill your summer days with then why not give Adventure Island a go? I know I will certainly be making a return visit.
