Space Heroes
Our Space Oddity collection was inspired by a whole nebula of characters and film references. So today we asked the alien obsessed staff at our Studio HQ to share their fondest memories of the TV & film world's depiction of space. Whether its dystopian adventures with Blade Runner's fembot Rachel , retro appreciation for classics like Button Moon or tackling some not so dark matter with the martians from Mars Attacks, we were spoilt for choice. Here is a Top 10 shortlist of just some of our space heroes ... 1. Ewoks : Emily, Press & Marketing Assistant "I cant pretend i know the first thing about Star Wars, but i do know first hand what living with a real life Ewok is like. The forest moon fuzz balls look exactly like my dog Coco, whom i have made it my life mission to teach Ewokese, chackyupyup! and yeah that's Warwick Davis in a fluffy suit." 2. Biker Mice from Mars: James, Menswear Press Co-ordinator "One of my favourite shows when I was well small. I had some sort of action figure collection of them too, with the motorbike. Nothing beats those early 90's cartoons for me , and anyway I couldn't remember if Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes were from space or not... so the rodents win." 3. Lumpy Space Princess : Katie, Studio Assistant "Oh my glob! Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time is confident, sassy and totally cool. She's got her own place, knows how to work it on a budget and has written her own book. LSP, you're my space hero!" 4. Kang & Kodos : Aimee, Production Co-ordinator "I have a lot in common with Kang and Kodos from The Simpsons. We all want to take over the world, we are all Quantum Presbyterians and we all share a dislike for earthlings. I even salivate as much as they do". 5. Lee Loo : Sarah, Store Manager "My Fave spacey character is Lee Loo from The Fifth Element, I love that sheâs meant to be the perfect being and obviously that's a woman. Also every time I hear 'MULTIPASSSSS' I crack up laughing." 6. The Bots : Jake, Design Assistant My space heroes are the bots from Mystery Science Theatre 3000. They are these really shitty homemade sarcastic robots with ping pong balls for eyes, developed by two evil scientists to find out what would be the lethal dose of b movies. 7. The Clangers : Sinead, Customer Service Co-ordinator "I pick The Clangers, because as a child I thought I was one. I would communicate in whistles and demand to be fed by the Soup Dragon. To this day, their fashion sense still inspires me, pass me the tinfoil." 8. E.T : Jerry , Press & Marketing Manager "It might be a little obvious, but E.T is my ultimate space hero. No other alien has managed to land on Earth, befriend a nervous school boy, get drunk on beer and make a loads of bikes ride into the sky. His pug-like face and pulsating finger warmed our hearts, freed our frogs and taught us some of life's greatest lessons. Repeat after me , Be goooooooooooooood." 9. Jabba the Hut : Hope, Studio Assistant "What's not to love about a dribbling, 12 ft. long, 600 year-old slug crime lord?! OK everything. But I still like that he eats his enemies". 10. Pizza the Hut : Gemma, Lazy Oaf founder & CEO "The most disgusting mountain of molten cheese i have ever seen, yet i envy it". -------------------------------------------------- Get lost in Space browsing our capsule collection here , and make sure to join in the Space Heroes discussion over on our Twitter.
