See You Next Tuesday: Simpsons Lego, Healthy Living and Dolphin Spying
Happy 2014 everyone and welcome to this years first instalment of See You Next Tuesday where the Lazy Oaf team give you a weekly round up of the things that have caught our eye or got us talking in the office over the past 7 days. Just about recovered from all the food of Christmas and the booze of New Years Eve, this week we have been finding out what O.C. character we are, drooling over mushroom burgers and falling in love with dolphins. 1. INTERNET SENSATIONS: Procrastination quizes. January is a month full of many questions; what does the new year have in store for me? What will I achieve? How will I improve on last year? To temporarily avoid answering the questions that really matter, we have instead been spending (wasting?) our time filling out the latest quizzes on offer over at Buzzfeed and have been learning a lot about ourselves in the process. We've discovered what Disney Prince is our true love, what S Club 7 member we're most similar too and what character from the O.C we would be. We wanted Summer but got Luke, seriously?! Who even remembers Luke Ward? 2. WINDOW SHOPPING: Own a Home-r. This Christmas we relived our youth when we received a Nanoblock shark under the tree, which is basically adults answer to Lego. While it was a lot more complicated and time consuming than expected, we found ourselves getting surprisingly into it and wanting something new to build once we had completed it. And today we think we have found our next project - the Simpsons Lego House. We have no idea when it is due to release but hear it comes complete with 2523 pieces including figures of all the family and our favourite nosy neighbour Ned Flanders. Christmas 2014 couldn't come sooner. 3. FOOD FAVOURITES: Portobello burgers. Like every other cliched Facebook status, we can't help but feel pressured to cut back on the carbs, cut out the chocolate and do a big detox this January. But being healthy doesn't have to mean being unhappy as our recent food discoveries prove. While we're not looking to do anything quite as drastic as going vegan, we are loving looking through the healthy eating suggestions posted on This Rawsome Vegan Life blog. How tasty does this Portobello Mushroom Cashew Cheeseburger look? You can find the full recipe here. For more healthy eating inspirations like this we'd recommend following @livegreenhealthy on Instagram, it isn't all vegetables, we promise! 4. MEDIA MATTERS: Forever dolphin love. One of the best things about the new year is the new line up of great TV shows our terrestrial channels have on offer. We spent last night gasping over Channel 4's latest talking point documentary, The Secret Life of Living Dolls, that saw grown men talcum powder themselves into body socks and hide their faces behind rubber blow-up-doll-like masks. Fortunately not all of 2014's TV offers are quite so creepy as anyone who watched BBCs Dolphin - Spy in the Pod will know. This fly-on-the-wall, or shall we say fish-in-the-sea, documentary follows the life of our favourite finned friends by using some very hi-tech hidden cameras disguised as life-like sea creatures. In fact the cameras look so real that last weeks episode saw a turtle getting a bit too friendly with the turtle cam. Make sure you tune in for episode 2 this Thursday night.
