Lockdown has done wonders for our creative endeavours! It means we have had to create a lot with barely anything and really stretch our ideas and what is possible. It has also got us making new creative friends and growing our network of creative contributors. Widening our creative pool has been such a great positive out of the ‘rona’ wreckage and meeting and working with Ben Butling has been one of those joys! We commissioned Ben to create a series of images for our body parts collection with no bodies, and he nailed it.
“Having started exploring new creative approaches to my imagery within recent months, I found a new love of utilising clothing and other accessories to build figures. However, instead of creating lifeless bodies, my ideas circulated around injecting emotion and character into them. Bridging creative genres of sculpture and fashion, I feel more artistic when I have to create everything in front of the lens. I love the flexibility you are provided when you create your own models, sharing a perfect, playful relationship with Lazy Oaf's collection ‘Body Parts’ as ironically, these images have none to see. And looking back, they always sit still!”
