STAFF ONLY: Emma
We give you an insight into members of the Oaf family, our team members tell us what they do, what they are into and not so into.
Meet our Brand Partnerships manager Emma. Lover of Corrie, Titanic and Lady Gaga. Collaboration is one of THE most important things to us here at Lazy Oaf and Emma is entrusted with steering that ship and making those magic projects happen. It’s kind of prerequisite that you have to be funny to work at Lazy HQ and she’s been honing that craft from an early age. She holds alllll the top secret info on our upcoming collaborations as well so if you meet her, buy her a cold pint of lager and she might just spill the beans.
Introduce yourself...
I’m Emma, Brand Partnerships Manager at Lazy Oaf :-)
How long have you worked at Oaf?
Since February, so only 6 months, although the time has flown by and I definitely feel part of the family already, despite starting the job remotely.
Describe yourself in 3 words
Big heart, long legs (that’s 4 I know but come on)
What’s your favourite Oaf piece, ever?
I love my Wearing A Big Smile tee - it’s the perfect oversized t-shirt block.
What’s the first thing you’d do if you were Prime Minister for a day?
Oh god, you don’t want to get me started down that road trust me.
What fact about you would surprise us?
When I was 16 I won a young person's stand up comedy competition and it might also surprise you to know I’ve been wheeling that fact out for the last 16 years for moments exactly like this.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would really like to go to South America
Do you have a party trick?
I used to constantly make strangers at parties listen to me singing a Celine Dion song I knew all the words to in French until I realised nobody cared and I was making a twat of myself.
If you could swap lives with one person for a day, who would you pick?
I want to say something clever here like Jeff Bezos and give away all his cash but realistically I think I’d just want to be my friend's dog, Dexter.
What’s on your playlist rn?
Since I reached 30 I no longer listen to new music because I am not cool enough to know any, so my playlists consist exclusively of the same Madonna, Lady Gaga and Kate Bush songs I have been listening to for the last 10 years.
What’s your favourite song to sing in the shower?
Avril Lavigne, Anything But Ordinary. What a tune.
If you were an emoji, which one would you be?
The one where the face is smiling but there’s a nervous bead of sweat.
What’s the strangest thing you own?
I have one plastic mannequin leg that I think was once meant for showcasing stockings in a shop but now just hangs out with me in my living room.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
Going to Ibiza in September because I have the best friend in the world who bought me a trip there for my birthday; shout out to Zoe if you’re reading this.
What’s your favourite way to relax?
I watch vloggers doing Poundland and Home Bargains hauls on YouTube.
Describe a typical day in your life…
I wake up, muddle through then have a bath and get back into bed.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Coronation Street - I wouldn’t dream of missing an episode.
Favourite reality show?
I don’t really like reality shows but I got really into that one where people had to date people in a box and then get married. I can’t for the life of me remember what it was called though.
Favourite show to binge watch?
As above. Also Cruising with Jane McDonald
Who was your childhood celebrity crush?
Leonardo DiCaprio - yesterday, today, tomorrow.
Most iconic Soap Opera baddie TV villain?
Richard Hillman every single time.
What’s your favourite...?
Book: The Catcher in the Rye
Podcast: Lots of really awful True Crime ones that I’m too embarrassed to admit to listening to in public.
Place: Cornwall
Movie: All things considered, I’ve come to accept that Titanic is my favourite film.
What are the best bits about being at Oaf?
We are a super small team and there is zero politics - if we want to do something we just try it and see what happens - I love working like that.
What are you most excited about dropping next from Oaf?
Obviously I am going to say all of our collabs and not to toot our own horn but there’s some absolutely brilliant ones coming out next year that I just can’t wait to launch.
What would be your dream Oaf collaboration?
That would be telling! ;-)
Any last words?
If you do want me to sing that Celine Dion song in French for you I can.
