My name is Julia Ling Kelleher, I am a 19 year old filmmaker and artist living in Los Angeles, California.
Nineteen is a strange year for me. I have come to the sad and exciting realization that this is my last year of teenagehood. It’s a closing to this chapter of my life. Confusion is at an all time high and writing has been my mental escape from that. “I Wish I Belonged to Me” is my attempt at sharing that small, vulnerable, safe space with the rest of you. It’s an attempt at understanding that love begins with one’s self. Infatuation has always been this painful distraction from my own identity, and I’m slowly learning how to get away from that. Maybe finally I will belong to myself again.
The pictures are all taken by my talented friend Hanna La Salvia inside my apartment. This is my physical safe space. Sometimes the places and objects around us are all we really have.
